Summer 2023 Archaeological Excavation in Greece

This summer Pitt students will have the opportunity to participate in an archaeological excavation in Greece! Pitt Classics professor Maggie Beeler will return to the Lechaion Harbor and Settlement Land Project (LHSLP), an archaeological excavation that has been investigating the Roman era harbor town of ancient Corinth in Greece since 2016.

Students joining Professor Beeler in the field will participate in the LHSLP Archaeological Field School, which provides on-site training in archaeological methods and practices, including excavation, artifact analysis, and conservation. In addition to digging up ancient Roman and Greek history, students will visit other major archaeological sites and museums on weekend field trips, visit nearby beaches, and participate in local village life in ancient Corinth.
