In this lecture, Dr. Berlin will draw on archeological evidence to showcase how ancient Judeans in the first century BCE began the practice of “household Judaism,” using specific goods to their infuse their homes with a distinct religious sensibility. 

Professor Andrea M. Berlin is the James R. Wiseman Chair in Classical Archaeology at Boston University. In this lecture, Dr. Berlin will draw on archeological evidence to showcase how ancient Judeans in the first century BCE began the practice of “household Judaism,” using specific goods to their infuse their homes with a distinct religious sensibility. 
 
This annual Israel Heritage Room lecture is in memory of the late Dr. Jerome Rosenberg, a formative leader of the Jewish studies program at the University of Pittsburgh.
